Information on Configurations and Load Securing

Read here for information on mounting and installing cargo bikes and bicycle trailers, as well as brief tips on securing loads.

Examples of configurations for different models

The PDF contains examples of possible configurations for the different cargo bike categories and the corresponding models.

Cargo bike configurations: Individual solutions for every transport need

A wide range of configurations are available for all cargo bike categories and many bicycle trailers. In addition to standard configurations from manufacturers, specialised configurations manufacturers offer both standard and customised solutions as well as various built-in features for optimum transport efficiency.

Standard configurations for cargo bikes & trailers: From boxes to flatbeds

Proven configuration options include closed, lockable transport boxes, open transport crates, cargo platforms, and flatbeds – with or without weatherproof covers. These standard solutions meet most commercial transport requirements and offer a high degree of flexibility in daily use.

Fittings: Optimal cargo space organisation

Professional fittings such as shelves, pull-out drawers, retaining bars and partition systems maximise the use of the available cargo space. These are either installed directly in the body or retrofitted. Shelving systems and special brackets enable the safe and orderly transport of a wide variety of goods.

Standard dimensions: Compatibility with common transport containers

Manufacturers base their designs on established standard dimensions such as Euro pallets, Euro boxes, vegetable crates and beverage crates. This standardisation ensures optimum compatibility and facilitates transfer between different means of transport.

Load securing for cargo bikes or trailers: proven systems

Proven systems are available for professional load securing: airline rails, rod rails, lashing straps, safety nets and fastening eyelets. These components ensure safe transport even in demanding driving conditions.

Important note regarding total weight

When selecting configurations and fittings, bear in mind that every additional kilogram reduces the permissible gross weight and thus reduces the usable payload. Careful weight optimisation maximises your transport capacity.
